Yep, I'm star-struck

Okay, I'll admit it: I'm the type of person that gets "star-struck."  I was so excited to be at the show last night and when Jeff Dunham came out, my heart began racing.  I think this is for a number of reasons: 1) I watch this guy on DVDs, 2) those were the puppets that I watch on TV, 3) we're breathing in the same air, 4) it is surreal.  :-]  Call me weird, but those are my reasons!  Jeff Dunham really knows how to put on a good show.  It was really cool because when you watch his DVDs, you don't really see all of the mishaps, bloopers, or other random things that happen, but because we were sitting there we saw all of it.  His Achmed character (dead terrorist) was hilarious because his ribs got stuck to his spine, his legs fell to the side and Jeff was struggling to get it unstuck (while Achmed is yelling at him).  In order to fix it, he had to unsnap his arm and adjust everything else.  That was probably one of the funniest parts!  I'm sure that none of this makes sense since I'm sure that half of you do not even know who Jeff Dunham is, but this is why I'm sharing it . . . you need to know him!  :-]  As I wrote before, he's a pretty controversial guy so if you're easily offended, just ignore me.  Jeff also had his guitar guy, Brian Haner.  That guy is so talented with the electric guitar and he is so stinkin' funny, too!  I have videos (that I probably wasn't supposed to take) that I really wish I could upload, but Josh will call me a criminal if I did that.  :-]
We had pretty good seats, so we were able to see a lot more than some other people (sitting in the nosebleeds with binoculars!).  I cannot wait until he comes back around this way.  Well, here are some pictures that I took at the event.  :-]  The cast's names were Jeff Dunham, Brian Haner (guitar guy), Walter (old grouch), Achmed (dead terrorist), Peanut (very high-strung), Jose the Jalapeno on a Steek (name says it all), and Bubba J (White "trailer trash").  :-]

We are still not millionnaires

Because I had a moment, I thought I would finally let you all know what me and Josh did two weekends ago; I'm sure it's probably (not) eating you up inside to know.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check it out here.

So, two Saturdays ago, me and Josh decided we wanted to become millionnaires.  What easier way to do that than play McDonald's Monopoly game?!  Yes, we tried.  We started our Saturday off by going to the McDonalds by our home.  We both ordered our food and filled our tummies for the long day ahead!  The funny thing about this is that the game pieces are only on selected items (as I'm sure you know).  We only got pieces on large drinks (that are still only $1), mcnuggets, and large fries; so that's what we ordered!  We drove to about 12 McDonalds in a 30 miles radius.  We were already full from our first stop, so we only ordered 2 large drinks at each stop.  The final stop, we ordered a full meal for each of us.

About $40
20 large drinks
4 large fries
3 gallons of Powerade
2 cartons of chicken nuggets
and 80 monopoly pieces . . .

. . . we are still not millionnaires.  Go figure.  If you know how Monopoly works, we have all but one piece out of each section; we definitely thought we were so close!  It's rigged!  It was definitely a lot of fun, though!  We planned on doing it again but in the Wisconsin area, but we concluded that it was a total waste of money, so obviously we didn't.  But, we did get some fun pictures out of it though.

This isn't all of the drinks!

Life's a Moose

As I was talking with someone today about everyday financial and emotional struggles, I realized something:  Life's a Moose.  We have all read the book, "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" when we were growing up, so you all know what I'm talking about.  Life is full of unexpectancies and consequences (both, good and bad) but it's life!

It's funny how often we don't have money, but we still spend it.  Sometimes it's so difficult to find the "silver lining," but it's still found.  We often complain about life's bad circumstances, but it's always outweighed with good reasons.  We can never have enough, yet we still find ways to appreciate what we do have.
All of that reminded me of that childhood book because it seems just like giving a moose a muffin; he will ask for jelly to go with it.  Then he'll ask to make more muffins.  Then he will make a big mess.  It's all a snowball effect.  With each "problem" comes another, but it's all about your perspective.  If we complain and bicker about our situation, then the outcome is going to be even worse.  We will hardly ever find joy and happiness in life's lessons.
We can look at that moose and complain about his mess.  We can run from potential requests the moose may have.  OR  We can have fun with the moose and enjoy the mess he has made.  We can give the moose what he's asked for.

I think it's silly when people take life so seriously.  We just need to enjoy what's at hand and learn the lessons that are to be learned.  I'm not going to lie, I have not learned how to save money.  I always spend money I don't have.  I haven't learned exactly where the silver lining is all the time.  I worry.  I complain.  I often feel like a lot isn't enough.  But the key is that I'm having fun with life.  I am learning the outcomes of my decisions.  I am learning that life is meant to enjoy.

When a moose asks for a muffin, don't hesitate.  You'll have a blast and learn a lot when you do!

Yes, it's true. I have . . .

Okay, I'm not going to lie, I have "cankles."  Go ahead, laugh.  :-]  I hate my ankles, or lack thereof.  When I logged onto the computer today, MSN had an article about cankles and ways to get rid of them (yeah, right!).  It had a bunch of links and pictures.  Talk about an ego booster!  I don't have cankles as bad as most of these people do, but I must admit, I do have them.  It's something that I've struggled with accepting and I hate wearing shorts because of them.  But hey, I'm working on the calves, so maybe they'll begin to "disappear."  Haha!  I feel so weird for talking about this, but it's me . . . I don't want to portray something I'm not, so you're going to get the Ashley that I am, cankles and all!

I have noticed that my last like 40 blogs I have not posted any pictures.  I am sorry about that.  Most of the time, I am writing blogs from work or trying to write them quickly from home, so I have not had the chance to post pictures.  I promise I will have pictures up soon, though.

Locking My Head and Keys in the Car

I really meant to blog yesterday but didn't have time. I am going to blog about yesterday now (because yesterday was too eventful for me to ignore) and maybe I'll blog about today later.

So, yesterday I needed to go to Target to get a few things. I had to make a list or else I'd be there forever and spend too much money. The only things on my list were deodorant, toothpaste, my 4th Twilight book, kleenex, and a box of Arm & Hammer for the fridge. Well, as I was getting out of my car, I was texting Josh and wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.
I went into the store, found what I needed with the exception of the Arm & Hammer. I was adding the totals up in my head and realized I had "extra" money to spend, so I was walking around. I found the cutest picnic basket for Josh and me. It is a wicker picnic basket with a red and white plaid cover on the inside. Only $15.

I got in line, paid for my things. Note: I am a professional at spending my limit (I'm talking, to the penny). I threw my little bag into the picnic basket because it was easier to carry. As I was walking out, I was digging through my gigantic purse for my car keys. I shook my purse up and couldn't hear them either. I was thinking, "Oh, crap. Not again." I walked out to my car, doors locked, looked into the passenger window and saw that I left my keys in the ignition. At this time, it was 2:15. I called Josh to see if he'd be home within the next 20 minutes or so since he has a spare key to my car. He just left Chicago. I called my mom, there was no spare key around the house. What the heck was I supposed to do? While standing there, next to my car, with my picnic basket, I was trying to figure out what to do. I asked my mom to come pick me up and when Josh gets home, we'll go back and pick my car up.

My mom works 3
rd shift, so at this point, she was just drinking her coffee and sitting in her pajamas. She had to get dressed and drive the 10 minutes to Target. When she got there, she threw me her car keys and told me, "Try one of those keys. I swear one of them opens your car." They didn't. As soon as she said that, I remembered something. I always keep a spare key to my car inside my wallet. I unzipped my wallet, the key was right there.

So, not only did I look dumb standing with a picnic basket in the parking lot for 25 minutes, but I interrupted my mom's "morning" by having her come pick me up, only for me to realize that I had a spare key on me. This is not the first time I've locked my keys in the ignition. If you're looking to steal a decent car, my car comes with the keys, you just have to look for the car itself.

Random Fact: 40% of all car thefts actually had the keys left in the ignition.
